SoLT Research Network
La Trobe University Scholarship of Learning and Teaching Research Network
The aim of the SoLT Research Network is to advance the theory, research and writing about learning and teaching (also known as educational or pedagogical research) at La Trobe University.
It will provide those researching teaching and learning in higher education and those concerned with improving their own practice with opportunities to collaborate on writing papers and grant proposals. All staff are welcome to attend the lunchtime ‘Brown Bag’ meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Bundoora and Bendigo. A special invitation is extended to the alumni of ADU and CTLC professional development programs.
The SoLT Network is being convened by the CTLC’s Curriculum and Academic Developers. We launched the SoLT meetings on October 13th, 2009 with an open session to discuss the projects and interests of members of the network, and framed a program for the 2010 academic year.
Ideas for SoLT Network topics and activities:
- Networking and collaborating in research to write about leaning and teaching in HE
- Journal club – Which Higher Education Journals to target and how to succeed
- Writing group – supporting staff to write using Brown’s eight key ideas for writing
- Disseminating scholarly and research papers and ideas
- Applying for Teaching and Learning grants and awards
- Developing effective teaching portfolios for probation and promotion
- Lobbying for Scholarship of Learning and Teaching
Other ideas welcome
